Story

The Story so far....

Rebecca Connelly started writing music at a young age, influenced by the stories and songs she heard from her Grandad.
Hailing from the small fishing town of Arbroath, Rebecca was a shy young girl. She had played piano from age 8 and began learning guitar at 15, writing her first song at age 16. With the encouragement of her family,  she performed in the local music scene in the early 2000s, sharing the bill with the likes of Dropkick and Tumnus and winning a local talent contest.

Moving to the USA from 2006-2013, Rebecca held a residency at the Riviera Resort in Palm Springs, made famous by the Rat Pack. She won Best Female Artist in the So Cal Music Live Competition. She had the opportunity to perform for Harrison Ford, Avril Lavigne, Vinnie Jones and the original cast of Top Gear.
Her debut album, "Coming Home," was recorded in Beef Stewdios with Armando Flores Producing. Working with the unique talents of musicians from the Coachella Valley, including Tim McMillan & Marcos Gentry ( The Pedestrians), "Coming Home" was where Rebecca began to craft her sound, an exciting blend of pop and rock with sweet folk and country undertones and her American audience adore her Scottish lilt.

The release of her EP "Days Like This", recorded at TreeHaus Studios with Grammy Award Winning producer Justin Gariano, propelled Rebecca to perform at the prestigious House of Blues in Hollywood & tour her homeland of Scotland including a performance in Scotland's Capital city of Edinburgh Rock' n' Roll Half Marathon, the infamous Hootananny in Inverness & the Perthshire Amber Music Festival. Influenced by the alternative rock scene of Southern California, "Days Like This" packs a punch with stand-out tracks like 'Hollywood' and 'Truth Never Dies'.

Returning to her homeland of Scotland in 2013, Rebecca met with her now husband and session drummer Scott Burrell ( Coaltown Daisies, Abba Mania, The Jiggers). Collaborating to create the band SidebySide, Rebecca & Scott held a residency at Crieff Hydro Resort for over six years. During this time, Rebecca was writing and recording her second studio Album - California, released on the February 2020. With Lockdown hitting hard on musicians, the album was never toured. During this same period, Rebecca was invited to record piano on The Coaltown Daisies critically acclaimed album "Listen."

The release of her second studio album, "California", in February 2020, complimented by a selection of singles landed Rebecca Connelly on the Scottish Singer/Songwriter map with a country/pop/folk. Rebecca hand-selected some of Scotland's finest musicians and artists to perform her eclectic new material, recorded in her homeland of Scotland with Producer David Macfarlane - of Ice Breaker studios in Perth.  Her album `California' was nominated for Best New Album in the Scottish Album of the Year Awards 2020.

Rebecca took some time away from music in 2021 when she gave birth to her son.
Returning in 2022 she shared the headline slots of the Randan Festival alongside the Coaltown Daisies and The Mad Ferret Band.
Currently, Rebecca is the co-writer and producer of a new stage show "When Worlds Collide", which features two of her original songs. The show will be performed at the SEC in Glasgow for the World Science Fiction Convention in 2024.
She is also the co-director of Red Rock Music, a music school and shop in Arbroath, Scotland, where she tutors young musicians and facilitates opportunities for performance and experience in the music industry.

She is working on her third studio album and will perform in festivals and theatres across Scotland this year.
